Walnut frame
Steam-bent. Hand-rubbed with seven coats of plant oil, sanded back between each. The grain is finished open.

Built on the same bench.
Close variants of the piece you're looking at — same construction language, scaled and re-cut for the way the room reads.
Two centuries of joinery technique, finished by hand in Kampala.
The frame is steam-bent Ugandan ash — slow grown in the central forests, milled at our yard in Mukono, and curved on jigs that were built in 2014 and haven't moved since.
Every piece is sat in for two hundred hours before it leaves the gate. We have a corner of the workshop where the team rotates through them — reading, eating lunch, on calls.
Four materials,
traceable to source.
Everything we use has a name, a place, and a person at the other end. The supply chain for one piece fits on a postcard.

100% wool boucle, looped on a slow loom in Jinja. Martindale 40,000. Re-stretches on the frame, doesn't pill.
Hand-tied, three-bond knot at each crossing. Belgian jute, sized in our finish room, replaceable as a service.
Belt-grade rubber from a Kasese tyre re-purposer. Two-zone tension — soft under thigh, firm under spine.
Sized for someone five foot six to six foot two. The seat is 42 cm off the floor — high enough to stand from without pushing, low enough to tuck a leg under.
Reviews from named clients, with the configuration they bought and how long they've owned it.
“
★★★★★Bought in 2017, still on its first cushion cover. I read in it every morning.
“
★★★★★Two chairs for the library. Three years and a thousand guests later, neither has needed a re-tension.
“
★★★★★Asked for a custom moss linen and they had it on the bench in five weeks. Worth the wait.
